To implement an operation of this magnitude, Antamina built a
118-kilometer highway that runs from Conococha to Antamina.
This road is fully paved to transport employees and the necessary
supplies to the mine. This highway is open to the public,
ensuring a swift and secure access, benefiting many towns
along the way. It is constantly maintained by the company.
Grass has been planted to help prevent possible landslides
under the reforestation program implemented by Antamina’s
environmental group.
Electricity is another important factor for Antamina. Thanks
to a 57-kilometer high tension line, the Yanacancha camp as
well as all the mechanical installations located at the mine
receive electricity from Huallanca (Ancash). Edegel, an electricity
provider, provides electricity for the operation (100 MW)
as well as for the Punta Lobitos Port.
