Antamina produces different mineral concentrates, primarily
copper and zinc, as well as molybdenum, silver and lead, which
are secondary by-products. The concentrates are fine mineral
dust that has been reduced to microns with a high metallic
content.
The main mineralogical products that are contained in the
reserve are chalcopyrite, bornite, molybendite. However, given
that Antamina is a skarn deposit (a skarn is formed when a
fluid rich in metals intrudes a calcareous host rock), it
also contains lead ore such as galene and related bismuth
minerals such as aikinite, bismuthinite and cosalite.
Our products can be classified as follows:

Zinc concentrates |

Molybdenum concentrates |

Lead concentrates |
• The copper and zinc concentrates are transported
through a pipeline
to the modern Punta
Lobitos port in Huarmey, which was built by the company.
The port has a filter plant and an innovative storage facility
for concentrates with negative pressure and can store just
over 160,000 tons of concentrates. It also has a modern shipping
dock where the concentrates are filtered, stored and later
shipped to different smelters around the world. The molybdenum
and lead-bismuth concentrates are filtered and hermetically
sealed for transport in trucks from the mine concentrator
to the port of Callao.
