Antamina’s operations employees stay at the Yanacancha camp while they are working and a significant number return to Huaraz with their families at the end of each rotation. Located on the edge of a beautiful pine forest, Antamina invested close to US$25 million in a modern housing complex, called El Pinar that includes 276 comfortable homes that are rented to workers. The houses are of different sizes to satisfy different family needs. El Pinar urbanization, in the district of Independencia, has diverse areas for recreation, a variety of services and education facilities.

Huascarán School


 
 

To offer quality education on par with the best schools in the capital city of Lima, Antamina inaugurated the Huascarán school in 2000. The school is for all the children of employees, officials and workers, and averages 350 students.

The school is divided into national and international sections. The international section is sponsored by the International School Services (ISS), a prestigious entity that has been providing international education in 60 countries for the past 40 years. The Santa Maria Community Educational Association directs the national section, which is also responsible for several educational centers in the country (San Pablo University, Instituto del Sur, as well as Villa Caritas and San Pedro schools, among others).
